Today mobile audio systems power
amplification requirements often surpass
those of home high-end systems as the
listening environments are so different
and in the case of vehicles, so much more
demanding and noisy. To address such
specific needs, ECLIPSE introduces a
dedicated subwoofer amplifier meant for
use in the finest systems. Making use of
an amplifier technology and topology
known as Class D which produces the
greatest efficiency of any class of
amplifier operation, the DA7232 CYCLOPS
PowerHouse will effortlessly drive any
subwoofer system to produce the most
awesome low frequencies heard and felt,
yet seamlessly blend with the rest of the
system. ECLIPSE combines well-known
specialist audio manufacturer
Bang&Olufsen ICEpowers state-of-the-art
1000A audio amplification module with its
proprietary no-compromise audio
technologies to create the ultimate
subwoofer amplifier.
Class D Optimized for Low Frequency
Reproduction
A class D or Pulse Modulation Amplifier (PMA)
switching amplifier design makes use of its output
devices (usually MOSFETS) to pulse on and off at
very high frequencies with a continuously
changing duty cycle. The result is an average
output level which is then converted to an audio
signal by the averaging action of the speakers.
The efficiency of Class D amplifiers reaches over
90% and allows them to generate much less heat
than conventional amplifiers. A Class D amplifier
can therefore be smaller and draw less current all
the while putting out significant power. And
because a dedicated subwoofer amplifier only has
to reproduce a limited bandwidth, i.e. just the low
frequencies, the CYCLOPS can exploit all the
advantages of Class D amplification to the
maximum. ECLIPSE makes use of a new and
innovative Class D/PMA modulation method for
higher performance than conventional Class D
amplification. Thats why Class D amplifiers are
found in most of the powered subwoofers used in
home high-end audio and home theater systems
because they are inherently ideal for reproducing
low frequencies.
Compact but So Powerful
With its compact footprint, the DA7232 CYCLOPS
PowerHouse manages to output 2000W per
channel with vanishingly low total harmonic
distortion and a high S/N ratio. Its high efficiency
makes any forced cooling unnecessary, also
eliminating large and heavy heat sinks even
operating continuously at high power and driving
low impedance loads.
Integrates Seamlessly with Total
System
One measure of an extraordinary subwoofer
system is how it can blend with the rest of the
system speakers. CYCLOPS incorporates a flexible
onboard crossover section incorporating a
subsonic filter as well as a low pass filter. Both
filters are variable to allow setting an optimally
balanced sound between the subwoofers and main
speakers.
Features
Maximum power output of 2000W (both
channels) into a 2 ohm load.
Peak output current in excess of 50A for
virtually limitless power.
Immense 120dBA dynamic range for effortless
reproduction of the lowest frequencies.
Built-in protection against over and under-
voltage conditions.
Additional protection for amplifier and speakers
as well as soft clipping and soft start-up
functions.
Balanced inputs and outputs.
Quality Construction Throughout
Built to the same exacting standards as other
models in the Premium Amplifer Series, the
CYCLOPS also boasts high-end amplifier circuit
and construction techniques such as high-
efficiency high-energy isolated power supplies,
symmetrical layout, high input overload, discrete
protection and audiophile-grade components. This
uncommon level of attention to build and quality in
dedicated subwoofer amplifiers is what makes
CYCLOPS ideal for use in the most demanding
systems.
